Dear friends of our, the Sykes, have a daughter getting married at the end of the summer. Although she lives in Indiana, we knew we had to show her how Texas women do wedding showers. I used my designing eye to make the centerpiece and my mom worked her magic from the amazing food to her southern hospitality.

2012 Color of the Year

I know it's mid-April, but I have been wanting to do a post on this for a while. Better late than never!

 The 2012 Color of the Year determined by Pantone is Pantone 17-1463 Tangerine Tango. This vibrant orange hue is perfect for all seasons and has been seen in fashion as well as home decor. Pairing this color with a classic neutral will get you a long way whether it's a purse, pillow, or painting your favorite piece of old furniture. So spice up your life a little bit (Yes that was an involuntary Spice Girls reference) and add some pop to your world!

A beautiful light fixture can really make a room, whether it's a table lamp, floor lamp, or hanging fixture. Turing on only the lamps will change the ambiance of the space from cool to warm, while an amazing hanging fixture will focus the eye up, accentuating the height or detail of your ceiling. 

Mad Men Inspired

OK so I'm a little TV obsessed, and one of my favorite shows right now is Mad Men. I love everything about it: the story lines, the fashion, and the furniture. If you grew up in the 1960s, this stuff is not new to you. You may have even had a few of these pieces in your childhood home. Check out these great items inspired by that iconic era.
